GSA's sponsored competitive program

Club soccer is a select soccer program that is a progression from recreational soccer for players who have shown a love of game and whose families are in a position to make a bigger commitment to soccer with additional time and resources to training and travel for games. GSA recommends that players under the age of 8 stay with recreational soccer, as at the early ages, the key to development is having fun and developing a strong relationship with the ball. As players advance past the age of 8, they can further their development with club training and competition. Club soccer is a good fit for players who really enjoy the sport and whose families can support the extra time and expense required. The decision on playing club can be made anywhere between the ages of 8 to 12. After 12 years old, it is very challenging to make the transition successfully, but still a possibility. Club soccer is not for everyone, but for players who seek to play in high school or beyond it is a must.

GSA sponsors Central Ohio Elite Soccer Club as the official select program affiliated with GSA. COE is one of the oldest clubs in central Ohio and its mission is to use the game of soccer to develop boys and girls into great soccer players and people. The dedicated staff consists of experienced nationally licensed coaches. Many of the coaches coached with and had their own kids start their development with GSA. GSA is proud to sponsor COE for several reasons: like GSA, it is mission based not-for-profit organization; it is convenient with training and home gains in Gahanna; COE offers college scholarships to seniors; it has boys and girls teams; and COE has some of the lowest club soccer fees in the area.
