Coaching Courses

"You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward."

- Conrad Hall

Whether you are just beginning your coaching career or have been coaching for a long time, you should always look for educational opportunities to further your coaching knowledge. GSA has partnered with Ohio South Youth Soccer Association to bring many coaching education courses right here to Gahanna.

GSA Hosted US Soccer Grassroots Courses

Gahanna Soccer Association is pleased to announce that it has been selected to host the US Soccer Grassroots Education courses this March at Headley Park. Whether you have been coaching for years, just getting started, or you are a parent that is interested in getting into coaching this spring, this is a great opportunity for you to advance your coaching skills.

And the best part... GSA will reimburse the cost of your first grassroots course!

The 7v7, and 11v11 courses are made up of two, two-hour courses that build on the principles covered in U.S. Soccer’s Introduction to Grassroots Coaching. Specifically, candidates will learn more about U.S. Soccer’s Grassroots Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Six Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players in the play format of the course. The courses will also ask each candidate to reflect on their experiences to develop action steps for personal growth.

You have questions. We have answers.

Who is eligible for this program?
Participants must be at least 16 years old and have completed U.S. Soccer’s Introduction to Grassroots Coaching module. The intro module is free and can be accessed here.

Do I have to be a GSA coach to be eligible?
Anyone that meets the basic eligibility requirements may take the course, but you must have coached in the Fall 2021 season, or be registered to coach in Spring 2022 for GSA to reimburse you for the cost of the program.

You mentioned reimbursement. Is there an upfront cost?
All participants must register and pay for their course(s) at the US Soccer Digital Coaching Center. The cost for each course is $45. Once you have completed your first course, GSA will reimburse you the cost.

Will you reimburse the cost of any course I want?
GSA will reimburse the cost of any one course that we host, once per year. If you would like to attend multiple courses this year, you would still get to take advantage of GSA's lower rate, but you would only be reimbursed for one of them. GSA will only reimburse the cost of courses that are hosted by GSA.

When are the deadlines to register?
Registration will close the day before the course, or when we reach capacity; whichever happens first. We do expect the classes to be full, so please register early if you are interested in participating.

I have a question about something else.
Sure thing! If you have a question specifically about GSA's coaching policies or our reimbursement policy, please email us at coaching@gahannasoccer.com and we will help you out. If you have questions regarding the courses themselves, or registration for the courses, please use the Help page at the Digital Coaching Center website.
